THE CRUX OF THE MATTER

I happened upon Bill Maher's Real time blog and a reader's comment resonated with me, so I'm sharing it:

"A friend of mine owns a large manufacturing company, and he recently told me: "I don't care if they completely eliminate my income tax; I'm still not going to hire any people until demand for my product increases. No matter how much they protect my tax rate, the republicans aren't helping me at all if to do it they take money away from my customers.

"I'm in business to sell the products I make, and I'm not creating one more job until people can afford to buy more of my products."

That pretty well sums up what I've realized and have expressed over and over.  The "job creators" (Romney, et al) think the way to create wealth for the nation is let them have more and more while the masses pay most of the taxes and settle for less and less.  They eat cake, while everyone else has to be satisfied with stale, moldy old bread crumbs.

As I pointed out recently, Henry Ford knew better.  The heirs of the robber barons of the 19th and early 20th century just can't get that rather logical fact straight.
